Minix3 Installation 1. Download Vmware Player 2.0 from this location ... 2. Download the Minix Virtual machine from this location ...or install Minix using this CD from the book ... 3. Install Vmware Player/Workstation and open the Minix virtual machine using the file menu ... 4. Create a virtual floppy drive for this machine using the options in Edit Virtual Machine Settings menu. Make sure that an image is created for this image drive in '.img' format. 5. Boot the machine using 'Start this virtual machine option' 6. Make all the required changes, do 'make world' 7. Make sure that the Minix VM either has the floppy drive mapped to the actual floppy drive or an .img file on the Host machine. 8. then goto /usr/src/tools run 'make fdboot', when it asks for the floppy drive give fd0 which has a blank image created for writing the boot image. 9.
